Surayya Anne Foundation Housing Project
There is an estimated population of 6,000 – 8,000 Muslims in Tulsa and 35,000 Muslims statewide, therefore, the Foundation continues to house homeless and needy Muslims daily. It’s a fact, that Oklahoma does not have enough shelters to serve the state’s homeless needs. A growing Muslim population means a growing population of those in need.
The Surayya Anne Foundation’s primary goal is to re-establish our client’s independence and self-reliance by focusing on work and education as part of their stay in our program. To this end, in 2008 we developed a transitional living program for women and children in need and in March 2009 we opened our first apartment as part of this goal.
It’s an unfortunate reality that Oklahoma does not have enough shelters and housing to serve the needs of the chronically homeless, disabled, immigrant, refugee, mentally ill and working poor. The Foundation has completed four of the five buildings and is fundraising for the completion of the last building which is slated to be opened in the Winter of 2020.
As of June 2019, an additional $25,000 is needed to complete the project. To make a difference in the lives of the homeless, please donate to our final building project.
