Faatimah McLemore was born in Killeen,Texas- to parents (one of whom) who served in the armed forces.
Growing up in a multi-denominational Christian family, including Jehovah’s Witness, Seventh Day Adventist, Lutheran, Catholic, Baptist - allowed Faatimah to learn the power of faith and the power of acceptance.
Independently researching Islam in high school- inspired her to accept it as her religious path in 1993 when she finally met other Muslims.
Faatimah spent some of her childhood in Empire, Colorado. She moved to Oklahoma whilst in 5th grade and graduated high school in Adair, Oklahoma. With a Bachelor’s degree in Medical/Molecular Biology from Rogers State University - Faatimah intends to get her doctoral degree and engage in postdoctoral work in Cellular Biology with a focus in Astrobiology.
Faatimah, a wife, proud mother of seven and grandmother of one - joined the Surayya Anne Foundation-Tulsa a few months after its founding in 2008, and soon after giving birth to her fourth child. She has served on the Case-Management committee since the start of her board tenure. Her special area of expertise is in providing appropriate services for women, children and families who could benefit from the Foundation’s programs.
