Tulsa Metropolitan Ministry will honor several people, churches and ministries at its annual assembly June 19 at Yale Avenue Christian Church, 3616 S. Yale Ave.
Honorees will be:
The Don Newby/Ben Hill Recognition to Judy Kishner and Gail Richards for their work in providing attainable homes for the homeless. (The award recognizes people who have expressed compassion and concern for others’ welfare, have supported human services institutions, and have worked for social justice and an end to racism.)
Interfaith Disability Awareness Award to Centenary United Methodist Church for making its church building more accessible to those with disabilities. (The award recognizes congregations that promote accessibility and full inclusion of people with disabilities.)
The Interfaith Understanding Recognition to Harriet Larsen and Fannie Bryant for their work in ecumenical mission with Church Women United. (The award recognizes people who have promoted understanding in the ecumenical and interfaith community.)
Ron McDaniel Recognition to Anne Sublett for her work with Tulsa Lawyers for Children, which recruits, trains and provides ongoing assistance to lawyers who provide pro bono legal representation to abused and neglected children. (The award recognizes an individual who embodies the spirit and furthers the mission of Tulsa Metropolitan Ministry.)
Interfaith Service Recognition goes to Restore Hope Ministry for its efforts to equip families to help themselves restore their economic and spiritual vitality and to mobilize congregations to serve families in economic crisis. (The award goes to a congregation directly involved in meeting basic needs of the poor, elderly, working poor or children.)
Point of Light recognitions to Joy Lutheran Church for its use of solar energy as a renewable resource; to the Surayya Anne Foundation for assisting women in need; and to Twan Jones for his work with minority youth and the legal system.
TMM’s delegates meeting will be held at 6 p.m., and dinner, entertainment and awards will be at 6:30 p.m.
